I finally got myself new inks and a better pen-holder! *fanfares* Been practicing black-lettering and other types of fancy lettering techniques/styles for a couple of weeks now. I’ve scanned most interesting pages so everyone can check out how cool and fun hand-drawn letters can be!

Those 7 pages are only about 15% of all the experiments that I did within last two weeks since I updated my set. Filled with some random words, mostly coming from music that was playing, a few fun phrases and whatever came into my mind when I dipped the pen into ink bottle…
Since I need more practice, I’m thinking of throwing a drawing session where you can ask me via my facebook page to draw something. Your name, for example, or some clever phrase or quote. Stay tuned!

New article @ iLoveTypography brought my attention to this insanely gifted brother from Milan, Italy, who goes under moniker «Bean One». From what I see in his flickr gallery, he’s totally obsessed with letters and calligraphy and I must admit I haven’t seen an artist putting so much passion into every line before. I can barely find words to describe how awesome his stuff is…
Just take a look at those — pictures can say more:

There are some live performances available at Vimeo. Worth watching! He’s also on MySpace ;)

We spent a great weekend with my brother, who I sincerely congratulate on becoming a father on February 4th! Late night we were hanging out at his place and I found some useless brochure and spent the last drops of ink of my 1,5mm marker by throwing some strange-looking calligraphy-like stuff on the pages.
Some shots of what I came up with at around 5am:
